The Karenni People

With the help of a wonderful computer savvy friend, I've begun putting together some hymns translated into Kayah.  The Kayah people have long used the Sgaw Karen people's hymnbook and now we are starting to put together hymns they can use in their own mother tongue.  You can find some hymns in .pdf form on the Church Resources tab.  Print and try them out!

Yeah!  www.karennirefugees.com seems to finally be on Google's search engine!  I've tried to pass the website along to some of the resettlement organizations.  I hope they will also pass it on to volunteers or anyone they think it might be helpful to.

This is my first blog.  I just want to say a few things about the website.  I hope it will be helpful for resettlement case-workers and volunteers as they work with all the Karenni refugees pouring into the USA.   This is an evolving site so be sure to check in now and then to see if something else becomes available.  Additions may include further helpful phrases or a simple English-Kayah dictionary, Kayah songbook and hymns for church use and some recorded books of the New Testament.  I'm interested to get feedback to know what people are using and finding helpful and if there are other helpful resources or suggestions.
