This first sermon, 'Come to Jesus', has 5 points:
1. Matthew 8:23-27 - Jesus calms the storm. Htoo Gay explains that when we face difficulties, we need to come to Jesus like the disciples in the boat did. Jesus is the One who can help and save. 2. Mark 5:25-34 - Jesus heals the woman who suffered from constant bleeding. Pastor Htoo Gay explains that when we have sickness, we need to come to Jesus like the woman did. 3. Mark 6:30-44 - Jesus feeds the 5 thousand. When we have anxieties, we need to come to Jesus for His help like the disciples needed to do when they needed to feed all the people. 4. Mark 8:22-25 - Jesus heals the blind man. When we are in need, we need to come to Jesus like the blind man did. Sometimes our blindness is in our hearts and Jesus is the one who can open the eyes of our hearts. 5. Luke 17:11-19 - Jesus heals the 10 Lepers and only one returns to praise Him. Pastor Htoo Gay explains that often we are eager to come to Jesus when we face difficulties, have sicknesses or anxieties or have are in need, but we also need to come to Jesus after he has helped and saved us. Just like the one Leper who returned, we need to remember to come back to Jesus and praise Him and thank Him. |

Scripture: John 3:16 & 2 Timothy 3:16
Pastor Htoo Gay encourages us to read God's Word in our own language in order to know about God's love for us. Through God's Son, God shows us His Love. Because of man's disobedience, man and God were separated and God could not longer be together with man. But because of His love, He sought a way through His Son. God loves us and gave us His Son to save us from our sins. Those who believe in Jesus, have believed in God and if they believe, they are saved. So that we can know God's love, He has given us His Word. Previously, we've heard and read the Scriptures in other languages and learned of God's love through other's languages. But now, we are able to know God's love in our own language and it's so wonderful. God has done this. God has given us His Son and His Word so that we can know His love. We all have the responsibility to read God's Word in our language. And if we can't read, we have recordings of the NT in the form of .mp3, CDs, and microSD cards for cellphones. We have no reason to be lazy about listening to God's Word. We have the Scriptures in our own language so we should not to be lazy but instead should read the Scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:16; how the Scripture helps us |

Pastor Htoo Gay shows from Scripture that God uses the smallest things for His Glory. In Exodus 4, God used Moses' staff for a miracle to prove to the Israelites that God had appeared to Moses and chose Moses to save them. In Judges 15:15, Samson took a jawbone of a donkey to defeat 1,000 men. In 1 Samuel 17, God used David and a small stone to defeat the giant, Goliath. In Mark 6:30-34, Jesus took 5 small loaves of bread to feed 5,000. We sometimes feel small and insignificant, but God often doesn't use the mighty and strong, but chooses to use the smallest things to bring Glory to Himself.
We had some Karen visitors in church, so the sermon is also explained in the Karen language. |

Pastor Htoo Gay explains that in the Old Testament the Israelites had to kill a lamb and shed its blood to be forgiven of their sins. During Passover they took the lambs blood and put it on the door posts. Those who did this were saved from death. In the New Testament, Jesus who never sinned, was God's lamb sent to shed his blood for our sins to save us as John the Baptist proclaimed in John 1:20 and Matthew 3. If we believe in Jesus and depend on Him and what he has done for us, we are saved, forgiven and clean.

Pastor Htoo Gay explains why it is important to go to others and encourage them in the Lord. Jesus tells us that the two greatest commandments are: to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:28-31). So if we love God, we are going to love others. If we love others, then other people will know we are Christians because of our love (John 13:34-35).

Pastor Htoo Gay explains from John 14 that Jesus said He would ask God to send the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts and to help us. How does the Holy Spirit help us?
1. Whoever believes God's Son, God gives them the Holy Spirit and we become God's children. We are like strangers on earth. We do not need to seek what the people of the world seek and we don't need to be afraid because we are God's child. 2. Through the Holy Spirit, God gives us the strength in our hearts to do what is right. 3. The Holy Spirit in our hearts give us God's love for others. On earth, if people love you, you love them back. But, with the Holy Spirit in our hearts, if people don't love us, the Holy Spirit gives us God's love to love them back. |

Pastor Htoo Gay teaches about tithing in this message.
1. Jesus sees and knows everything about us. In Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4, the poor widow put in everything she had, Jesus saw and knew everything that the rich people had back at their homes and everything that the poor widow had back at her home. 2. Jesus knows everything that is in our hearts. In Acts 5, Ananias lied about their tithe. Peter said that they didn't lie to man, but to God. Sometimes we tithe only because it is our culture, but we should be tithing because we know that Jesus loves us and we want to give to Him. 3. God loves us and gave us everything: life, forgiveness, salvation, and all the things we own. We give to Him when we tithe because we love Him. |
